How to Get Oil Out of Nubuck
- 1). Press a clean, absorbent cloth into the nubuck surface to soak up the oil. As oil transfers to the cloth, move to a clean area of the cloth. Continue to soak up oil until no more oil transfers to the cloth.

Cover the oil stain with a mound of talcum powder. Gently tap the top of the talcum powder mound to push it into the nubuck fibers. Allow the powder to sit overnight while it soaks up oil. - 3). Vacuum the talcum powder from the nubuck surface. Brush the nubuck with a soft brush to remove any remaining talcum powder.
- 4). Gently rub an art gum eraser over the surface of the nubuck. The eraser will pick up any last traces of oil, as well as any dirt that has collected around the oil spot.
- 5). Brush the nubuck once more, using the soft brush.
