How to Kill Fleas Naturally in Carpets
- 1). Remove any small rugs from the carpets and wash them on the hottest setting allowed for the rug.
- 2). Vacuum your carpet regularly. Vacuuming will help remove flea eggs from the carpet's fibers.
- 3). Sprinkle fine table salt liberally throughout your carpet. The salt should have a consistency almost as fine as powder.
- 4). Brush the salt into the fibers of the carpet using a broom.
- 5). Allow the salt to sit on the carpet overnight. When the fleas eat the salt, it will dehydrate them and they will die. Unfortunately, the salt will only kill adult fleas and not the larvae. Reapply the salt treatment every two to three days for up to two weeks to completely remove the fleas.
- 6). Remove the salt and dead fleas with your vacuum after each application.
