How to Remove Black Mold From Walls
- 1). Put on a protective face mask before you begin. Breathing in any type of mold can cause health problems.
- 2). Moisten the mold before disturbing it to prevent it from becoming airborne during cleaning. This can lead to further contamination and it increases the risk of breathing in mold spores. Use a spray bottle to mist the area with water. Dampen the area with mold but do not saturate it.
- 3). Mix 1/2 cup of chlorine bleach with 1 gallon of water. Fill a spray bottle with the bleach and water mixture.
- 4). Spray the affected area with the bleach mixture. Put on a pair of rubber gloves and use a stiff brush to clean the area. Continue to spray and scrub the area until all the mold has been removed.
- 5). Inspect the area periodically for mold growth. If mold continues to reappear, replace the portion of the wall that contains the mold.
