Things to Drive and See in Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas, Nevada is a popular vacation spot, attracting visitors from all walks of life. If you drove your vehicle to Las Vegas or if you are renting a car, don't spend all of your time in your hotel room. Some Vegas attractions are easily accessible if you have a vehicle. - Las Vegas Boulevard, or the Las Vegas Strip, boasts many of the city's famous casinos and resorts, such as Harrah's Las Vegas Hotel and Casino and Bellagio. The strip is a busy traffic area, especially in the evening. Be prepared to leave your car in one of the available parking garages and walk Las Vegas Boulevard to view the sights.
- Red Rock Canyon is less than 20 miles from Las Vegas Boulevard on Nevada state Route 159, according to the Red Rock Canyon web site. A visitor center and gift shop are located at the conservation area. As of 2010, you can take a scenic drive from 6 a.m. until sunset each day. Hiking and bicycle trails are also available. Driving directions are available on the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area web site.
- Similar to the Las Vegas Strip, Fremont Street is located in downtown Vegas. Drive Fremont Street to view the sights, or park and visit the casinos and restaurants. The street offers a vintage look at Las Vegas, according to the Fremont Street Experience web site.
- Hoover Dam is 30 miles away from Las Vegas on U.S. Route 93, according to the Travel Nevada web site. Visitors can tour Hoover Dam or the power plant for a fee. A visitor center and parking garage is located on site as is a cafe. As of 2010, the visitor center closes at 6 p.m., and a map to the Hoover Dam is available on the Travel Nevada web site.
