Father"s Day in the Philadelphia and South Jersey Region
First came Mother's Day and it wasn't too long until someone wondered about dad. That someone was Sonora Dodd, of Spokane, Washington who felt that father's should also have a day to honor them. That was back in 1909, but it wasn't until 1972 that an actual law was signed by Richard Nixon which made the day official.
There are many choices of things to do in the Philadelphia and South Jersey area to honor the father in your life whether it's your own dad or the father of your children.
Here are a few suggestions.
Most men love a good steak, so be sure to take a look at our list of Top Philadelphia Steakhouses.
Beer & Food Tour
City Food Tour's Artisanal Beer and Food Tour. The two hour tour, in Center City Philadelphia, includes a thirst-quenching flight of eight craft beers with a micro-brewer and tastings of cheese, prosciutto di Parma and other charcuterie with the owner of one of Philadelphia's premier cheese shops. The Beer & Food Tour will be held on Sunday, June 15 (Father's Day) starting at 3:30 p.m.
Advanced reservations are required and can be made online at www.cityfoodtours.com or by calling 800-979-3370. Tickets are $39 per person including beer and food. Gift certificates for June 15 and other dates are also available by calling 215-360-1996.

I normally recommend Longwood Gardens for Mother's Day, but this year it makes the perfect Father's Day outing. Nature's Castles features three huge treehouses created by some of the country's best designers. The Lookout Loft is a rustic Adirondack-style treehouse in the shady Forest Walk. The Canopy Cathedral is an ornate two-story house inspired by a Norwegian church overlooking the Italian Water Garden. The Birdhouse is located in the Terrace Woodland, offers bird?s-eye views of the surrounding natural landscape. What guy can resist a treehouse?
