How to Add Fresh Mint to Glycerin Soap
- 1). Buy plain unscented glycerin blocks, found at your local craft store. Year 2010 prices for glycerin blocks range from $10 for one lb. to $30 for five lbs.
- 2). Prepare your double boiler by adding water to bottom. Or use a makeshift double boiler by filling a large pan with water and placing a smaller pan inside the large pan. Set burner to low-medium.
- 3). Melt 4 to 8 oz. of glycerin block in the top of the double boiler.
- 4). Turn down heat a bit so that glycerin cools slightly but stays melted, and stir occasionally.
- 5). Add 1 to 2 tbsp. chopped fresh mint to melted glycerin. Consider also adding a few drops of essential oil such as peppermint or spearmint to deepen fragrance.
- 6). Line molds, also found at your local craft store, with wax paper to allow for easier removal.
- 7). Pour glycerin mixture into molds and allow to cool and harden at room temperature for an hour.
- 8). Remove glycerin soaps from molds once they have hardened and cooled.
