How to Get Pee Out of a Mattress
- 1). Push an absorbent towel onto the urine as soon as possible. Use as much pressure as possible to prevent the urine from seeping into the mattress. Change the towel as needed. Continue using the towels until no more moisture is absorbed.
- 2). Wash the urine spot with plain, clean water and a sponge. You do not want to saturate the spot but you do want to dilute any remaining urine. Absorb the water using a towel as before.
- 3). Spray an enzyme-based cleaner on the urine spot. These cleaners are designed to consume the proteins in the urine, which will eliminate any remaining urine and odor. This type of cleaner can be found online or at pet supply stores. Follow the manufacturer's directions.
- 4). Air-dry the mattress by directing a fan at it, opening a window or putting it outside on a warm, dry day. If you have a wet-vac, you can use it to pull out any more moisture. Make sure you dry the mattress thoroughly so it does not grow mildew or mold.
