Taking Wallpaper Off an Unprimed Wall
- 1). Line your floors with painter's drop cloths.
- 2). Pull off the top layer of wallpaper in long sheets. If the wallpaper does not pull off easily, spray it with water.
- 3). Fill a compression sprayer with water -- you can rent these from your local home construction supply store -- and spray the wall with water from the top of the wall. Allow the water to run down the wall and soak for about 15 minutes.
- 4). Gently scrape away the wet paper -- which is a remnant of the wallpaper -- with a putty knife. Slip the putty knife behind the wet paper and lift it off the wall.
