Olympic Athletes from Toledo and NW Ohio - London 2012
Northwest Ohio may not be an Olympic powerhouse like Utah, Colorado or California have, but the athletes that hail from this area are some of the best in their sports. Find out which hometown men and women you should be cheering for when the 2012 London Olympics begin on July 27.
Many of the top sports, including track and field, swimming and gymnastics, are just choosing their teams in early July. We'll likely be adding more athletes to this list after those events.

Sylvania native and St. John's Jesuit High School graduate, Scott Parsons is headed to his third Olympics in London this July. The 33-year-old Parsons competes in the K-1 slalom canoe event. He finished 6th in Athens in 2000 and 20th in Beijing in 2008. Follow his Olympic journey on his Facebook page.
When he's not practicing archery, Wukie is a Lake Erie charter boat captain.

A former Toledo resident and graduate of Rogers High School, Erik Kynard (21) is headed to London to compete in the high jump event. He placed third in the 2011 USA outdoor championships and earned a silver medal at the 209 Pan Am junior games.•Scott Parsons

•Anna Tunnicliffe
Olympic golf medalist (in Beijing), Anna Tunnicliffe was born in England, but moved to Perrysburg with her family when she was 12. She graduated from Perrysburg High School. In addition to her golf medal, Tunnicliffe has won many honors and events. Among them are the 2009 ISAF Sailing World Cup in Laser Radial, the 2010 women's world snipe championship and the 2011 ISAF Sailing World Cup. She was named ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year in 2009 and again in 2011. She will compete in the women's laser radial sailing event in London.More »•Jacob Wukie
A native of Oak Harbor, 26-year-old Jacob Wukie is an accomplished archer. He placed first in the 2009 Intercollegiate archery championships. He was an alternate for the 2008 Olympic team, but this year he has a spot on the regular roster for London. Look for him to compete in the individual and the team events.When he's not practicing archery, Wukie is a Lake Erie charter boat captain.
