How Do I Remove a Cover From a KitchenAid Dryer Machine?
- 1). Unplug the dryer from its electrical power source, and turn off all gas fuel flowing to the unit at the main valve behind the dryer before commencing any service work.
- 2). Pry the lower-front dryer panel off of its fastening clips. Gently wedge the tip of a flat-head screwdriver into the seams where the lower-front panel meets the side panel and in the center under the door opening. Carefully lever the screwdriver back and forth until the top portion of the lower panel pops out toward you.
- 3). Loosen the lower panel from the bottom clips by lifting it up and toward you to free it from the mounting clips. Set the lower dryer panel aside where it will be safe and won't get scratched, dinged or bent.
- 4). Unscrew the two exposed mounting screws located at the bottom corners of the dryer door panel. Loosen the screws two full rotations but do not remove them from the holes.
- 5). Push the tip of the flat-head screwdriver gently between the upper-front dryer panel and the side panel seams and at the center bottom to pop the upper panel off the lower mounting clips.
- 6). Raise the upper panel back on its hinges, so it is leaning back toward the dryer controls and the wall behind the dryer.
- 7). Remove the two screws located just inside the front upper panel. Remove the metal clips on the right side of the door that keep the door sensor wires in place. This will allow the wires more slack and give you room to maneuver.
- 8). Place one arm in the dryer cavity to lift it slightly, and with your free hand, lift the upper panel off its screws, pulling it toward you slightly. Set the upper dryer panel in a safe place with the lower panel.
