    Alabama Constitution Village

    • Visitors to the Alabama Constitution Village are transported back through time to 1819. It was here that 44 delegates gathered in a cabinet shop to organize Alabama as the 22nd state. Families can spend the day exploring eight buildings, including John Boardman's print shop, Clement Comer Clay's law office, the federal land surveyor's office, a post office and the sheriff's residence. In November and December, the village is transformed into Santa's Village with real reindeer and nightly "snowfalls."

    U.S. Space and Rocket Center

    • The U.S. Space and Rocket Center is a comprehensive space flight museum with collections of rockets and memorabilia. Visitors can enjoy IMAX and 3-D digital films at the center, which houses the original Mercury and Gemini capsule trainers, the Apollo 16 capsule and a full-size replica of the Apollo 11 Saturn V rocket. The center is home to learning programs for children and youth through the Space Camp and the Space Academy initiatives. On weekends, children and their families can participate in a family program and learn about space flight, including experiencing simulations.

    EarlyWorks Children's Museum

    • The EarlyWorks Children's Museum allows children to explore interactive exhibits, including a 46-foot keelboat, and learn about the early history of the state of Alabama. Children can play giant instruments at the Alabama bandstand, trade goods at a general store and try on 1800s clothing in the federal house. The Talk Tree tells stories to kids and parents, and pre-school children can spend time in Biscuit's Backyard, a touch-and-learn area with a garden, grocery store and, for would-be pop artists, karaoke.

    Sci-Quest Hands-on Science Center

    • Sci-Quest Hands-on Science Center is located in Huntsville's Cummings Research Park, one of the largest research parks in the country. Through hands-on education, the center aims to develop kids' interest in science, technology, engineering and math. Children can learn about nutrition in a scaled-down version of a kitchen or visit the music room and learn about sound. Other exhibits explore astronomy and technology. Visitors can also view 3-D films on how severe weather forms and use touch-screens to learn about weather.
