Start: MTA Station at Hollywood and Western
LA is not all mini-malls and parking lots. Our film biz epicenter of Hollywood is home to many establishments worthy of architectural recognition or at the very least the perusing of an aesthetically inclined eye. What follows is a short East to West tour of architectural and ambient sites in the City of (Spot)Lights. The first stop is a colorful tiled building at Hollywood and Western--which appears to be some sort of homage to Dutch De Stijl artist Piet Mondrian.
It actually houses the Metro red line station. The structure was designed by Esciderp-Frobpirg architects. The public art at the MTA was created by artist (and Otis Parson visiting faculty member) May Sun (1979) in 1999.
