How to Change a Showerhead
- 1). Purchase your new shower head. Choose from massaging heads, high powered jet sprayers, or even multi-head units. Most home improvement stores carry a large selection of models to choose from.
- 2). Remove the old fixture. Using your wrench or pliers, turn the old unit counter-clockwise(left) until it comes loose from the pipe and can be removed.
- 3). Clean the fitting thoroughly at the threaded end where you will be connecting the new unit. Use a soap scum cleaner and a wet rag to remove any debris from the fitting.
- 4). Apply two layers of plumber's tape to the fitting.
- 5). Install the new shower head. Using your pliers or wrench, connect the new head and turn it in a clockwise direction (to the right) until it is tight and secure.
- 6). Test your shower to ensure the new head you've installed is functioning properly.
