How to Make Organic Mosquito Nets
- 1). Measure the distance from your bedroom ceiling to the floor. This is going to be the length of your organic mosquito net. Next measure the perimeter of your bed. This will be the width of your mosquito net.
- 2). Iron your organic netting so that it doesn't have any wrinkles.
- 3). Lay the net out flat and measure the length and width. Use a laundry marker or chalk to outline your pattern on the net. Cut out the pattern, leaving a 1/4 inch or 3/8 inch seam allowance around the edges. Fold over your seam allowances and hem them by hand or machine.
- 4). Gather the top of the organic netting and tie it into a knot. Pull the ends of the netting that sticks out of the top of the knot and fan it out so that it looks nice. Tie a ribbon around the netting just below the knot. Sew on a small loop to the back of the ribbon so that you can hang your netting.
- 5). Install a large hook in the ceiling directly over your bed. You can either center it or install it so that it is above the head of the bed. Make sure you screw the hook into a ceiling joist so that the weight of the organic netting doesn't pull out of the plaster.
- 6). Insert the loop you sewed to the ribbon onto the hook. Then fan out the organic mosquito net so that it covers the entire bed. If you want to ensure your mosquito net stays closed you can add a strip of Velcro along the open ends of the netting.
