How to Stain Maple Chocolate Brown
- 1). Clean any dirt or dust from the wood with a damp cloth and allow it to dry.
- 2). Spray the wood lightly and evenly with the dye, taking care to spray the wood uniformly. Take care not to add too much dye, as it can pool on the surface of the wood and leave an ugly blotch. Do not rub the dye into the wood with a rag -- allow the dye to dry in the open air.
- 3). Spray a wiping stain onto the wood and rub it in with a rag. Examine your work to ensure that the entire surface of the wood received an equal stain. Test your stain on a spare piece of wood, if you prefer, before applying it to the the piece you are staining.
- 4). Spray a toner over the glaze to seal the stain. Add only a little bit at a time, and allow the furniture to dry in between applications until you've achieved a chocolate brown color.
