How to Clean a Stained Shower Surround
- 1). Open a window or turn on your overhead exhaust fan to provide some ventilation and protect against the caustic smell of some cleaners. Put on your mask and your rubber gloves to protect your lungs and skin from the smell and acidity of the cleaner.
- 2). Apply your cleaning product to the walls of the shower surround according to the manufacturer's instructions. If using a powder, wet your cloth, apply the powder to the cloth, and apply it to the walls and bottom of the shower surround. If using a spray, make sure to spray it evenly over all shower walls and the bottom of the shower. Allow this to sit for about 10 to 15 minutes to give the cleaner time to work.
- 3). Scour the entire shower surround and floor of the shower with your scrub brush, paying special attention to the areas where the shower was stained the worst.
- 4). Rinse the entire enclosure with the shower head, using warm water. Use a clean cloth to rinse around fixtures and areas the shower head cannot reach.
- 5). If the stains have not come out of the shower, you may have to repeat Steps 2 through 4 several times, allowing more time for the cleaner to work on the shower surround.
- 6). After the shower has been rinsed thoroughly and all the stains have been removed, rub down the entire enclosure with a vinegar-soaked cloth. This will remove any residue from the shower surround and leave it with a nice, clean shine.
