How to Recycle a Paperboard Container
- 1). Break down the paperboard so it lies flat by slicing the bottom of the box with a knife. Remove any tape that might be attached to the box.
- 2). Remove any liners from the paperboard. Packages made out of paperboard have liners that separate the contents from the actual container. These plastic coverings protect the paperboard from the food or other content and needs to be removed prior to recycling.
- 3). Place paperboard in a water-proof container. Paperboard can be stored with other recycling materials, but make sure it is protected from rain, snow or other liquids.
- 4). Research what is accepted at your local recycling center. Separate any products if necessary. Drop off at the recycling center or place on the curb if curbside recycling is an option.
