Removing Rust Stains From a Toilet With Vinegar

    • 1). Flush the toilet.

    • 2). Pour 1 cup of distilled white vinegar into the toilet and leave it overnight without flushing.

    • 3). Scrub the stains in the morning with a toilet brush to remove as much of the stain as possible.

    • 4). Shut off the water to the toilet if the stain persists.

    • 5). Flush the toilet again to remove as much water from the bowl as possible.

    • 6). Pour white vinegar into a spray bottle and use it to saturate the toilet bowl.

    • 7). Sprinkle borax over the dampened toilet bowl liberally.

    • 8). Allow the vinegar and borax to remain on the residual stains for 30 minutes to an hour. Spray more vinegar into the bowl every few minutes to keep it damp.

    • 9). Scrub the toilet bowl again with a toilet brush to remove the remaining stains.

      Repeat the process with the borax and vinegar until the stains disappear. Turn the water back on.
