Atlanta is the Southeast's largest city and a cultural center of the South. The city is replete with various religious, including a substantial Jewish and Muslim population. Christianity remains the main religion, however, with Southern Baptist and Catholic influences. There are several religious sites around the city that reflect this religious melting pot. - The Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is Atlanta's oldest Catholic church. Completed in 1878, the red brick church is in the Midtown section of Atlanta. The church attracts visitors of various religions who come to take in the history and architecture of the building. Mass is held daily.
