How Can I Degrease Sheets?
- 1). Separate your laundry into lights and darks; wash each separately.
- 2). Presoak your sheet in a bleach for a few hours or overnight, depending on the intensity of the grease stain. Prepare your bleach in a bucket. For white sheets, mix vinegar or lemon juice in a bucket of warm water and submerge the sheets. For colors, purchase an oxygenated powder bleach alternative from your local market, pharmacy or home cleaning supplier. Pour one scoop into the bucket of warm water, stir and submerge sheets.
- 3). Place the sheets in the washer after the desired soaking time. Add 1/4 cup of dish-washing liquid to your load of laundry. For large loads or very tough stains, use a 1/2 cup; add liquid fabric softener if desired.
- 4). Remove the sheets from the washer once the cycle is finished. Hang the sheets to air dry on a laundry line or laundry rack. Alternatively, use a door to hang the sheets from, or lightly drape them over your couch to dry. You want to air dry the sheets just in case the stain is not removed; this will keep the stain from setting and allow you to wash the sheets again, hopefully removing the stain.
