The tiny and friendly town of St. George has a very tough nickname: "Granite Town." That's not the attitude of its 1,500 citizens, but its primary industry: granite quarrying. Pretty and pristine, St. George is known for its covered bridge, walking tour and proximity to the world's largest sardine factory. Its two hotels---Granite Town and Grove---do not allow pets, but St. Andrews By-the-Sea, just 20 miles away, has pet-friendly properties. - This motel is on the sea in St. Andrews By-the-Sea. It is Fido-friendly (other pets as well) and doesn't charge a fee. The motel offers a variety of accommodations. Waterfront rooms have balconies overlooking the bay's 26-foot tides, as do the bay-view suites, which include a kitchen. All rooms come with a complimentary coffee service. Guests can also request a bottle of wine and fresh flowers in the room upon arrival. During the summer, St. Andrews Motor Inn opens an annex called the Waterfront Garden Inn, which offers an additional 10 suites on the waterfront right downtown. These suites also have private balconies and kitchenettes. Both properties are walking distance from Water Street, the shopping, cultural and dining district of picturesque 250-year-old St. Andrews. The 27-acre Kingsbrae Gardens and Fairmont Algonquin's 18-hole golf course are just a few minutes away. Pets are welcome in town, so long as they are on a leash and owners clean up after them. There are also many parks with trails around St. Andrews where you can take your dog for long walks and play.

standrewsmotorinn.com - Pets are welcome at Seaside Beach Resort, but may not be left alone in guest rooms or run leash-free on the property. This motel is actually a series of properties strung together creating what management refers to as an "eclectic assortment" of lodgings. There are five fully equipped rooms in the main building, which is referred to as Denley House. Just down the boardwalk a few steps, there are pods of cabins, all with kitchens and kitchenettes. Management can arrange whale watching excursions and kayaking tours. Visitors might also want to tour Huntsmarine Science Center aquarium (which has a touch tank for the kiddies) and the Atlantic Salmon Center. Pets will enjoy trips to nearby Simpson and Chamcook Mountain parks, and the abandoned train track trail on the shore of Chamcook Lake.
