Guide Review - Chef Geoff's Restaurant Review - Downtown
Chef Geoff's Downtown Restaurant is located in the heart of Washington, DC, directly across the street from the Warner Theatre and around the corner from the National Theatre. The expansive menu offers diners a wide variety - light snacks, sandwiches, big salads, and full course dinners.
Starters include items like Crispy Shrimp Dumplings and Mirin-Citrus Sauce, Handmade Meatballs and Grana Padano or Duck Spring Rolls with Hoisin BBQ Sauce. We enjoyed the Crispy Calamari with Trio of Sauces. It was lightly battered and very tender. The menu also includes a nice selection of burgers and pizzas. For those with a taste for beef, the steak selection ranges from an 8 oz Filet Mignon to a 20 oz Big T Bone Steak.
Seafood entrees include Grilled Atlantic Salmon with Tropical Salsa, Seared Tuna with Ginger Hoisin Barbecue Sauce and Lemon Parsley Crusted Trout with Caper Butter. Most recommended are the nightly specials. The Day Boat Scallops, Mushroom-Asparagus Risotto, Truffle Oil and White Balsamic Reduction was wonderful and nicely presented.
The decor at Chef Geoff's is nothing special. It is dark and ordinary. The bar is crowded and noisy. For a quieter meal, ask to be seated in one of the smaller rooms.
Additional Restaurants: Chef Geoff's, Chef Geoff's Tysons, and Lia's.
