How to Get Dog Urine Out of Subfloors
- 1). Pull back carpet where stain is.
- 2). Remove stained carpet padding.
- 3). Clean the subfloor by pouring enzymatic cleaner onto stain and let it seep in. Turn on fans over area to dry it.
- 4). Paint floor primer and sealer directly on dried area. Let dry.
- 5). Lay plastic over the subfloor and lay carpet loosely over plastic. Pour enzymatic cleaner over carpet stain. The plastic is to prevent seepage of urine in carpet. Cleaning the carpet ensures that the new pad won't be exposed to the urine and thereby won't transfer to the subfloor.
- 6). Clean carpet area with carpet cleaner. Be careful cleaning, as the carpet is loose and not installed yet.
- 7). Use fans to dry carpet.
- 8). Remove plastic beneath carpet and install new carpet pad.
- 9). Replace carpet using carpet stretcher. This is where you'll be finally tacking down the carpet.
