How to Finish a Tablecloth With Fringe
- 1). Measure the lengths of all sides of your tablecloth and add them together to get the total length. Cut a length of fringe to match the total length of all sides of your tablecloth, plus 2 inches.
- 2). Cover the ends of the fringe with clear tape to keep them from unraveling.
- 3). Spread your tablecloth out and flat over your workspace. Line the outside edges of your tablecloth with the length of fringe you just cut, overlapping the tablecloth's unfinished edges by a 1/2 inch to 1 inch, depending on your fringe's height. Turn the fringe at the corners of the tablecloth to create a seamless edge.
- 4). Attach the fringe to the tablecloth using straight pins. Turn the first and last inch of the fringe inward, so the unfinished and frayed edges are hidden, and then pin them down as well.
- 5). Set your sewing machine to make a machine stitch, using whatever method is appropriate for your specific sewing machine. Sew the fringe directly to the tablecloth, finishing the tablecloth.
