Kona is on the western part of the island of Hawaii, also known as Big Island. It is home to the Kona International Airport, which receives travelers on a number of different airlines. These airlines originate from various parts of the world and travel to and from Kona on a regular, daily basis.

    Alaska Airlines

    • Alaska Airlines offers flights to Kona from Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; and San Jose, California. Trips from Portland to Kona run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays only. Those from San Jose also run on a limited schedule. Flights from Seattle to Kona run twice daily on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Travelers leaving from any of these ports can also take flights with stops in different cities in order to make it to Kona when direct flights are not available.

    Hawaiian Airlines

    • Hawaiian Airlines is Hawaii's largest airline with 20 domestic and international destinations in the Pacific. Flights coming into Kona originate from or are routed through Maui or Honolulu. Originating flights come from a variety of ports. In the United States, these include cities like Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Sacramento, California; Phoenix, Arizona; Las Vegas, Nevada; San Jose and Oakland, California. International destinations include Sydney, Australia; Tahiti; Samoa; and Manila, Philippines. With considerable traffic between Kona and other Hawaiian airports, it is likely to find a flight from any of these destinations throughout the week.

    US Airways

    • US Airways began in 1939 with an original name of All-American Airways and originally delivered airmail. Today, it serves many national and international destinations, including Kona. Flights to the island all have a final departure point from Phoenix, Arizona, which is also the only city that offers direct flights to Kona. Frequent travelers can enroll in the Dividend Miles program, where miles can be accrued and traded in for free flights or set upgrades.
