How to Clean Toothpaste From Carpet
- 1). Lift the toothpaste from the carpet by using a butter knife or dull knife. Start at one end of the stain. Place the knife under the toothpaste. Gently push up around the outside of the stain. Wipe the knife. Move inward towards the center to remove a majority of the toothpaste.
- 2). Pour a drop of dish soap on the remaining stain. Rub into the carpet with a finger. Allow the soap to soak in for about five minutes.
- 3). Rub the brush over the toothpaste. Stroke one direction, approximately 15 times. Then brush the opposite way, again 15 times. Do not rub roughly or in circles; this can damage the fibers in the carpet.
- 4). Immerse the cloth into hot water. Wring out the cloth so it is slightly moistened but not drenched. Push down strongly on the toothpaste area. Blot the entire stain. Rinse the cloth and repeat the procedure.
- 5). Blot the toothpaste stain with the dry cloth. Remove most of the condensation.
- 6). Place plastic or Saran wrap loosely over the spot. Air dry the remaining moisture. The plastic will help the carpet dry properly without adding new dirt from foot traffic.
