How to Make a Dish Machine Sanitizer
- 1). Empty your dishwasher of all dishes. The initial home mixture you will make will be to thoroughly clean the inside of your dishwasher.
- 2). Mix 1/2 cup of white vinegar with 2 tbsp. baking soda.
- 3). Pour vinegar and baking soda mixture into dishwasher.
- 4). Start dishwasher and allow it to run through a complete cycle. Do this once a month to remove stains or caked on debris.
- 5). Mix 1 cup baking soda, 1 cup sodium borate, 1/2 cup salt, and 1/2 cup powdered citric acid in a large mason jar with a tight-fitting lid. Shake until well mixed.
- 6). Use 1 tbsp. of mixture from Step 5 plus 1/4 cup vinegar for each load of dishes.
- 7). Store your homemade dishwashing detergent mixture in your mason jar. Your supply should last several months.
