Wax Removing
- To remove wax from carpets, the Beeswax Candle Company recommends using an iron. Scrape any excess off the carpet first. Then place a cloth over the wax spill. Iron over the cloth so that the wax transfers from the carpet to the cloth. Move the cloth to continue picking up wax until there is none left. Sprinkle baking soda over any remaining grease or residue and let it sit. Then vacuum.
- If wax spills onto a metal surface, such as a candle holder, don't use any implements to scrape off the wax, as they could scratch the metal. This is especially problematic for metals that are plated with a precious metal. Instead, place metal items in the freezer. Once the wax is frozen, it will be easy to remove.
- If you have wax on your clothing, whether is is from a candle or a crayon, you have a few options. If it is a candle-wax problem, use the same method recommended for carpet wax-removal.
If you accidentally washed and dried a load of laundry with a crayon in one of the pockets, the crayon wax will have melted and made a mess all over the load of laundry. To get this melted wax off the clothing, you can use one of two methods. Before attempting either method, scrape as much crayon wax as you can off the clothing. For less severe wax stains, add borax to the washer and rewash the load of laundry. For more severe issues with crayon wax, apply WD-40 to the stains and wash the soiled clothes again, either with borax added to the wash or as usual. Treat any grease stains on the clothing from the application of WD-40 with liquid dish soap.
