With so many budget slashes over the past few decades, schools are becoming overcrowded, teachers are making less and extracurricular activities are being cut. But, many schools in the Indianapolis area are still thriving, despite these setbacks.

In 2012, the Indiana Department of Education introduced the A-F labels for school categories based on student performance from the terms Exemplary, Commendable, Academic Progress, Academic Watch and Academic Probbation to the easier to understand A-F letter grades.

The new A-F labels improve transparency by allowing parents and community members to better recognize how well Indiana schools are performing and leading students to achieve positive academic outcomes.
