How to Remove the Pin from an Emtek Steel Hinge
- 1). Tap upward lightly on the bottom of the hinge's slide pin using the tip of a nailset or awl and a hammer until the pin cap lifts approximately 1/8 inch.
- 2). Wedge the tip of a slotted screwdriver between the top cap of the slide pin and the top loop of the hinge to raise it approximately 1/4-inch to free the knurled collar out of the top hinge loop.
- 3). Extract the hinge pin by gripping the top cap of the hinge pin with a pair of pliers. Pull upward to remove the pin from the hinge.
- 1). Set the blade tip of a wood chisel at the seam between the top hinge loop and the base of the decorative cap of the hinge pin. Tap lightly with a hammer to raise the pin cap approximately 1/8-inch.
- 2). Wedge the tip of a slotted screwdriver between the top cap of the slide pin and the top loop of the hinge to raise it approximately 1/4-inch to free the knurled collar out of the top hinge loop.
- 3). Extract the hinge pin by gripping the top cap of the hinge pin with pliers. Pull upward to remove the pin from the hinge. Wrap the decorative cap of the hinge pin with a small piece of cloth to prevent the teeth of the pliers from causing damage to the cap.
- 1). Remove the hinge's pin security cap, located at the bottom of the pin loops, by unscrewing the cap counterclockwise using a 3/32-inch Allen wrench.
- 2). Tap upward lightly on the bottom of the hinge's slide pin using the tip of a nailset or awl and a hammer until the pin cap lifts approximately 1/8-inch.
- 3). Wedge the tip of a slotted screwdriver between the top cap of the slide pin and the top loop of the hinge to raise it approximately 1/4-inch to free the knurled collar out of the top hinge loop.
- 4). Extract the hinge pin by gripping the top cap of the hinge pin with pliers. Pull upward to remove the pin from the hinge.
