      Not only is Long Beach, Washington, a beautiful vacation spot, many of its accommodations are welcoming to pet owners. Some of the coastal motels, hotels and inns welcome pets, though not all of these accept cats. Among activities available throughout the year are kite-flying, storm watching, whale and bird-watching, clam harvesting, golfing and exploring places where Lewis and Clark visited. Long Beach has dunes, pine forests and 28 miles of soft sand beaches where you and your dog can play. Festivals and events happen frequently, including the Kite Festival, the Doggy Olympic Games, Ocean Park's Independence Day Pet Parade and the Sand Flea Pet Parade.

      The pet-friendly Rodeway Inn & Suites hotel allows two small pets (dogs or cats) per room. The weight limit is 30 pounds. Animals may not be left unattended in rooms and dogs must be leashed on the hotel grounds. The hotel is centrally located in downtown Long Beach and it is within walking distance of the boardwalk and the beach, with miles of dog-friendly beaches. The hotel offers a free continental breakfast, wireless high-speed Internet and an outdoor heated pool. The hotel charges a fee of $7 a night per pet.

      Anchorage Cottages allows dogs and cats weighing up to 50 pounds. Two pets are permitted per cottage, with a $10, per-pet, per-night fee. Pets cannot be left unsupervised in guest rooms, and dogs must be kept on leashes when in common areas. All the one- and two-bedroom cottages have kitchens and most have fireplaces. They are surrounded by gardens and patio areas, with a path through the grassy sand dunes down to the seashore. Long Beach has 28 miles of dog-friendly sandy beach and, while leash laws are not always enforced on the beach, there is an eight-foot leash requirement in Pacific County where Long Beach is located. Anchorage Cottages provides a dog-washing area and towels, for use after beach outings.

    Lighthouse Oceanfront Resort

      Lighthouse Oceanfront Resort has spectacular ocean views and comfortable guest accommodations. The resort has a swimming pool, spa and fitness facility. They charge a $15, per-night, per-pet fee, with a maximum of two pets allowed to stay in any one room. This hotel does restrict certain dog breeds: "no pit bulls, dobermans, rottweilers or other aggressive breeds are allowed" (lighthouseresort.net/Pet%20policies.htm). While on the hotel grounds, dogs must be leashed and under an owner's control, and pets may not be tied up and left alone. If cats or dogs are left alone in the guest's room, they must be crated and quiet.

    The Breakers

    • The Breakers of Long Beach is located on 24 acres of beachfront land. This dog-friendly hotel has rooms and suites, some with private balconies and ocean views, and the suites have separate bedrooms, dining areas and kitchens. The hotel doesn't allow cats, but dogs of all sizes are welcome, with a maximum of two dogs per room. Dogs may not be left unattended in room and must be on a leash while on the property. Waste bags, food and water bowls are available, and the per-pet fee is $15 a night.
