Housecleaning Instructions
- 1). Pick up clutter in commonly used areas of the home, such as removing papers or bills from tabletops, collecting loose shoes from the floor and putting away children's toys. Often tidying the items around your home can give a clean appearance even if you don't have time to clean. This also makes surfaces available for cleaning by removing items that are in the way.
- 2). Dust over the surfaces of your home, starting along the tops of furnishings and working toward the floor. Wipe dust from bookshelves, cabinets, electronics and tabletops with a dusting cleaner, or vacuum the dust to keep the air clean. Wipe the leaves of fake and real plants with a damp cloth.
- 3). Wash the faces of cabinets and appliances as well as countertops in the kitchen and bathroom with germ-killing cleaners. Clean inside your fridge, oven and microwave to lift any spilled food or liquids and decrease odors.
- 4). Clean your bathroom fixtures with heavy-duty cleaner to fight germs and bacteria that occur on toilets, sinks and showers. Use an old toothbrush to work in tight areas around faucets to remove buildup.
- 5). Wipe down mirrors and windows with an appropriate glass cleaner. Wash windows on a cloudy day to allow your cleaner to work without evaporating in the sun.
- 6). Vacuum all carpeted floor surfaces and damp mop hardwood floors to collect dust and dirt. Sweep tile and linoleum floors thoroughly before mopping with floor cleaner.
- 7). Wash towels, sheets and cloth napkins regularly using hot water and strong detergent to break down body oils and dirt. Fluff items such as curtains, small rugs and bedspreads in a dryer on low heat to remove dust without tossing it into the air.
