How to Cool a House Quickly
- 1). Close any blinds or curtains on windows where the sun in shining through.
- 2). Turn on your air conditioning or central air if you have it. Set the thermostat for your air conditioning or central air to the temperature that you want to cool the house to; just make sure you close all windows and doors first. If you don't have central air, open all window and doors, if you have screen doors that can keep bugs and animals out.
- 3). Turn off all electronics and lights that aren't in use.
- 4). Situate fans around the house to push air through the house. Place a fan in front of the open window in the living room so that it is sucking air in through the window. Then position a fan at the start of any hallways that branch off from the livingroom to push the air back toward bedrooms and other rooms. Place fans in front of bedroom and other backroom windows so that they are blowing air out the window; this will pull air into and through the room. The goal is to pull cool air from outside into the main part of the house and then circulate it from there to the smaller rooms in the home.
- 5). Turn all ceiling fans on to help the air flow in the house.
- 6). Refrain from using the stove, oven or any other heat generating appliance.
