Cleaning White Fur
- Many times a special shampoo is used for white fur, one that won't leave a residue or stain the white fur a different color. These shampoos tend to appear lavender or clear. Dog shampoos such as Petland Premium Brite White work very well. If you prefer to make your own cleanser you can't go wrong with a vinegar and baking soda mixture. 1 cup of vinegar, 1/2 cup baking soda and 1 cup warm water.
- Wet and apply the shampoo or vinegar baking soda mixture to the fur, massaging it throughout to lift out dirt. Rinse and repeat this process to make sure that the fur is white and clean. To get down to the base of the fur use a massaging motion just as if you are shampooing your hair.
- White fur needs to be rinsed very well to make sure that there is no residue. Then the fur needs to be dried completely and brushed. Blow dryers work quickly for deep down drying. Brushing the fur should be done against the natural pattern first to fluff up the base, then the other direction to smooth and shine.
