How to Empty Gas From an LP Tank
- 1). Place the tank outdoors in an open space at least 100 feet from buildings, vehicles and people.
- 2). Screw on the larger end of the regulator and hose assembly to the LP tank valve until tight. You may hear a short hiss as the hose coupler opens the tank's internal safety valve.
- 3). Unscrew the knob on the top of the tank as far as it will turn.
- 4). Push in and turn the control knob on the other end of the regulator hose to release propane gas.
- 5). Watch the regulator built into the hose for signs of frost formation. If the regulator turns white and begins to ice, close the valve and wait for the regulator to thaw. This prevents damage to your regulator and hose, which can be used again with another LP tank. The tank is empty when you can no longer hear a hissing sound emanating from the hose valve.
