• Monterey Peninsula Airport (FAA identifier MRY) has four commercial carriers that provide service from the central California coast to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, Las Vegas and San Diego. American Airlines, Allegiant Air, United Airlines and US Airways all fly out of the Monterey Peninsula Airport, offering more than 40 daily flights.
  
  The airport is small and easy to navigate, with quick security checks and boarding procedures. Parking is very near the terminal entrance.
  
  The airport itself is open 365 days a year. It opens at 4 a.m. and closes after the last scheduled flight arrives.

Marina Municipal Airport

• Marina Municipal Airport (FAA identifier OAR) is about 9 miles from Monterey. It has no airline service but does serve private aircraft. Marina Municipal Airport is the newest airport on the Monterey Peninsula.
  
  "The airport is dedicated to general aviation, business, light industry, and recreation," according to the city of Marina which owns the airport.

• Salinas Municipal Airport (FAA identifier SNS) is about 16 miles away from Monterey. This general aviation airport has no airline service.
  
  The Salinas Municipal Airport has three runways and serves single and twin engine aircraft, helicopters, and turbo-propeller and turbine-powered business jets. Its air traffic control tower is open 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
