How to Clean Fireplace Stone
- 1). Lay a plastic drop cloth down on the rug or flooring around your fireplace to avoid damaging your floors while cleaning. Tape the edges down so the drop cloth does not move during cleaning.
- 2). Fill a large bucket with 1 gallon of hot water and another bucket with warm water. Set aside the bucket of warm water.
- 3). Pour ½ cup (8 tsp.) of Trisodium Phosphate (TSP) into the hot water and allow it to dissolve.
- 4). Put on rubber gloves to protect your skin from the cleaning solution.
- 5). Dip a scrub brush with very stiff bristles into the cleaning solution and begin scrubbing the fireplace stones.
- 6). Rinse the fireplace stones using a sponge and the bucket of clean, warm water.
