The Bottom Line

It's simple to figure out what this meal will cost, since it is a fixed price. When we visited Fogo e Brasa, salad bar only was $17, just the Rodizio with side dishes (no salad bar) was $23, and all-you-can-eat of everything was $28 per person. Beverages not included. Desserts were $5 each. The lunch price for the 'whole shebang' (not including beverages and dessert) was $18. (Prices subject to change without notice.)

Pros
  • An adventure in eating
  • Upbeat, party environment
  • All you can eat, with an upscale salad bar

Cons
  • A bit loud, not for a quiet romantic meal

Description
  • Be in the mood for fun when eating at Fogo de Brasa!
  • The sides dishes are fine, but I found that they were just good fillers between tasty hunks of meat.
  • At the time of this writing their web site says they bring mashed potatoes, but they no longer do.
  • The food at Fogo e Brasa is not spicy. One or two of the meats were salty.
  • Desserts are all made on the premises. We enjoyed all 3 (flan, key lime and tiramisu) that we tried.
  • Reservations are recommended. Fogo e Brasa is popular, even during the week.
  • We had made a reservations, but for some reason they did not have it recorded when we arrived.
  • Don't fill up on the sausage or chicken. Skewers that arrive later in your meal will be even better.
  • I loved that we could pace our own meal. The service was excellent.
  • Fogo e Brasa is located just west of I-10 at Chandler Blvd: 4909 E. Chandler Blvd., (480) 783-6060.

Guide Review - The Brazilian Bull Steakhouse

Note: This review was written in 2004. At that time the restaurant was called Fogo e Brasa Brazilian Steakhouse.

Are you in the mood for meat? If you are on a low carb diet, or if you couldn't care less about dieting, you'll find plenty to enjoy at this Rodizio-style Brazilian Steakhouse in Ahwatukee Foothills.

Fogo e Brasa is an adventure in dining. When we arrived we were pleased by the modern and comfortably lit dining room. Several tables were set up for larger parties, which is a common occurrence here. The focus is on good food, lots of food, and fun.

The salad bar is in the center. No boring lettuce here. These are high-quality seafoods, salads and side dishes that make a great appetizer to the endless barrage of meats to come. Even a vegetarian visiting here with a few meat-loving pals will find the salad bar more than sufficient.

A staff member will explain the 'rules' while you munch on wonderful cheese bread balls (not their official name!) that are hard to stop popping in your mouth. Each table is supplied with a colored "signaler" with one green end and one red end. Green means start bringing the selections of meats--sausage, chicken, lamb, beef--slicing them hot off the skewers for your enjoyment. Red means you're taking a break. Lay it down on its side, and that means you give up!

In the evening there are ten selections of meat. They change slightly from evening to evening. We didn't see any fish offered on the skewers. There is a lovely selection of desserts offered fresh from their rolling dessert cart.
