How to Reset the Gas Regulator on a Grill
- 1). Open the lid of your gas grill. Turn off all the burner knobs on the front of the grill. Opening the grill lid allows any residual fumes to dissipate.
- 2). Turn the knob on the top of the propane tank clockwise until tight to shut off the fuel supply to the grill. Turn the connector nut securing the gas regulator hose to the propane tank counterclockwise with your hand to disconnect the regulator from the tank. If necessary, use a pair of slip-joint pliers to turn the connector nut if it is too tight to turn by hand. The regulator is a valve with one hose connecting to the propane tank and the other hose connecting to your grill burner tube. Wait five minutes before reconnecting the regulator to allow gas to dissipate.
- 3). Thread the regulator connection nut back onto the propane tank until it's tight. Slowly turn the propane tank valve counterclockwise until the valve is half open.
- 4). Turn one of the burners on the grill to the high setting and light the grill. Once the grill lights, turn on the adjacent burners and open the gas valve fully on the propane tank. Continue grilling as normal.
