Hiking trails can be found throughout Hutchinson Island. Some of the trails run through salt marshes, shorelines and deep woodlands. The D.J. Wilcox Preserve, the Indrio Scrub Preserve and Kings Island Preserve are among the many trails that can be found in the area (co.st-lucie.fl.us/beaches). These trails encompass over three miles of hiking trails and offer nature observation decks, picnic trails and sites of historical interest.
Hikers can participate in a variety of ecotourism activities and keep an eye out for birds, turtles and manatees. Many of the hiking trails start in nearby Fort Pierce and meander through areas of Hutchinson Island.
