Painting your bathroom is one of the quickest ways to change the look of it. Whether you are trying to create a serene, spa-like atmosphere or a tropical one, paint will add to the decor. Some things to consider before painting your bathroom are the size of the room and the amount of light it receives. Darker paint tends to make a room appear smaller. If you want to use bold or bright colors, however, they tend to look better in a smaller space. - The color green creates a soothing and restful palette for your bathroom. A lovely sage green color works in just about any size bathroom. A lighter variation of green, such as a soft mint, is considered a neutral color that can be used with most types of decor, particularly those that are also in cool colors. If your tastes tend toward more dramatic colors, and you have a small- to medium-size bathroom, consider painting it with a rich, jewel-toned green color.
- Consider painting your bathroom blue. It's a calming color that is reminiscent of water. A benefit of the color blue is that it comes in many different shades, from pastel blue, to brighter cobalt and teal blue. In addition, many of the very pastel and gray-blue colors are used as neutrals. If you have a large bathroom, keep the paint color a lighter shade of blue. One way to include brighter color in a bathroom painted a light color is to paint the bathroom trim or ceiling a darker hue such as teal or cobalt blue.
- To add some opulence to your bathroom, consider painting the walls of your bathroom gold. The options are a lighter shade of gold and a bold and bright gold color. The bright color of gold paint looks great with black and white floors and vintage decor. Lighter shades of gold look lovely with warm furnishings and accessories. As gold is a decidedly warm color, make sure the rest of the colors in your bathroom are warm toned rather than cool toned.
