  The city of Elba, Minnesota, in Winona County, is just 2.04 square miles. According to City-Data.com, approximately 210 people live in Elba. There aren't any campgrounds in the city itself, but several exist in its vicinity. Campers will have to decide whether to stay in a tent, RV, pop-out trailer or cabin. Another decision is whether to have full, limited or no amenities. Survivalists may prefer primitive campgrounds, where they can fend for themselves. Fishing and water sport enthusiasts may enjoy camping near a lake, river or reservoir. Others may prefer a wooded or elevated area.
  
  

Whitewater State Park Campground

• Whitewater State Park is 3 miles south of Elba and comprises 2,700 acres. Campers can choose from drive-in, walk-in or pull-through campsites. One cabin is also available, which can accommodate up to five people. The cabin has electricity and is open from April through October. Group campsites are for tent campers only and have water and vault toilets available. Other amenities include a dump station and showers. Activities campers can enjoy include hiking, trout fishing, swimming, skiing and snowshoeing. Phone and online reservations are available for 70 percent of the campsites. The remaining sites are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Lazy-D Campground

• This campground is approximately 10 miles from Elba. Accommodations include 117 campsites, plus sleeper cabins and Swiss chalet cabins. Fees vary based on the accommodation. Activities like boating, river tubing, horseback riding, canoeing and crafts for kids are all available. Campground amenities include a laundry facility, restrooms, coin-operated showers, swimming pool, antique carriage museum and gift shop.

Prairie Island Campground

• Nineteen miles east of Elba lies Prairie Island Campground with its 115 non-electrical and 80 electrical campsites. Visitors can enjoy many water activities, due to the proximity of the Mississippi River. Other amenities and activities include a playground, convenience store, fishing, bicycle rentals, numerous yard games and boating. On weekends campers can inquire about organized activities. Non-electrical camping costs $17; camping with electricity costs $21. Discounted weekly and monthly camping rates are available. Attractions outside of the campground include the Aquatic Center and Julius C. Wilkie Steamboat Center, both in Winona.
