How to Clean a Maytag Dryer Vent
- 1). Unplug the dryer from the three-prong electrical outlet or shut off the gas valve if you have a gas model.
- 2). Pull the appliance away from the wall and slide it around to access the back panel.
- 3). Unscrew the fastener on the dryer exhaust-hose clamps to loosen the clamps and disconnect the hose from the Maytag dryer as well as the exhaust vent in the wall, which leads to the outside of your home.
- 4). Use a flashlight to inspect the Maytag dryer vent for lint, dust, and dirt, removing as much as possible with your hand.
- 5). Use a vacuum cleaner with hose attachment for a thorough cleaning, inserting the hose as far as possible into the vent to remove all lint and dust.
- 6). Carry the dryer exhaust hose outside, holding both ends up to prevent making a mess in your home, then shake out the dirt and lint into a garbage bag in the backyard.
- 7). Wash out the dryer exhaust hose with the garden hose and allow to air dry.
- 8). Reconnect the exhaust hose to your Maytag dryer and the wall vent, tightening the clamps on both ends with a screwdriver.
- 9). Plug in the power cord or turn on the gas, then test the dryer to be sure warm air is flowing freely to the outside vent of your home.
